Land Rover Discovery 3

The Discovery 3, a completely new road, which aims to be the new benchmark in the luxury SUV segment, competing directly with the Mercedes M-Class, VW Touareg and Volvo XC90.

Sets new standards of quality, durability, refinement and solidity. It incorporates new advanced technologies that ensure the best performance 4x4 in perfect harmony with the road performance, thanks to a first-class engines, both petrol and diesel, along with a new chassis architecture and suspension.

"The Discovery 3, a true Land Rover, made a clear and convincing, that is evident in its clean design, versatility and the impressive driving experience," said Matthew Taylor, global general manager of Land Rover. "Like all new Land Rover, is impressive on-road driving and is the best in its category in the field," he added.

ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY
The Discovery 3 also apply new technologies, hitherto unknown in the 4x4 market, among which is the Terrain Response ™ system, patented by Land Rover, shown in advance in the Range Stormer concept car. This system optimizes drivability and comfort, as well as amplify the tension. The driver selected by a simple rotary control, located in the center console, one of five "scenarios" to drive: A program for normal driving, one for slippery terrain (grass / gravel / snow) and three special off-road driving (mud / ruts, sand and rocks).

The Terrain Response system then selects the most appropriate framework for advanced electronic controls and traction aids-vehicle ground clearance, engine torque response, Hill Descent Control, electronic traction control and transmission.

"Having the Terrain Response is like wearing next to an expert who helps you get the best out of the vehicle, under any circumstances, inside and outside the road," said Matthew Taylor. Another innovation is the Integrated Body-frame structure ™ (Integrated Body-frame), which allows Land Rover to deliver all the comfort, refinement and attributes of a monocoque on asphalt, while setting new standards in off-road performance. The Discovery 3 also features adaptive headlights that swivel when cornering, helping the driver to have better visibility when cornering.

BENEFITS IN ASPHALT AND FIELD
The range-topping engine is a 4.4 liter 300 hp at 5500 rpm, a specially developed version of the famous Jaguar V8 petrol engine. To suit Land Rover has increased capacity (the Jaguar engine is a 4.2) and torque (425 Nm at 4000 rpm), has reduced the possibility of entry of water and dust and improved air intake to allow fording rivers and improving traffic on highways. A Land Rover motor function should also be able to bear certain angles when driving in circumstances of extreme 4x4.

The engine with higher demand in Europe will be the new, soft and supple Land Rover turbodiesel, 2.7 V6 with 190 hp at 4000 rpm. It is a unit with common rail technology and latest generation variable geometry turbocharger, and a torque of 440 Nm at 1900 rpm.

Both engines provide powerful performance on the road, with quattro permanent four-wheel drive. The gasoline engine is coupled to an automatic transmission 6-speed "intelligent shift", available as an option for the diesel, which mounts a box standard 6-speed manual also.

The use of an independent air suspension with variable height in all versions improves highway driving and in field. The suspension is set up, helping to enter and exit the vehicle and raising the ground clearance for rough terrain.

MORE VERSATILE
"The design of Discovery 3 is derived from its own capacity, because all you see is for a reason," said design director of Land Rover, Geoff Upex, "We give priority to passengers and the driver environment superb interior, with more vertical clearance and comfort. It has a large glass area, resulting in the luminosity of the interior and better visibility, "he continued.

It is also clearly a Land Rover. "No one could confuse this vehicle with anything else was an absolute priority," said Upex. "And while I had to look radically modern, round and distinctive." As unique and common in the Land Rover design, we can mention his bold vertical and horizontal elements, the stepped roof (to increase the visibility and interior space in the rear seats), the asymmetric rear tailgate (to reduce load height when the bottom is closed and narrow the gap at the bottom of the boot when open), the location of the air intake on only one side of the body, and huge glass area.

The rider also benefits from the traditional high driving position of Land Rover products, while all passengers in the rear seats have progressively higher than the front as in a stadium-for easier viewing. The optional third-row seat adds comfort and accepts without question two adults.

Its great doors facilitate entry, being the back door that used to access the second and third rows of seats. The clever design of the seats further enhances its versatility. The two rows of rear seats fold forward, leaving the floor level to facilitate loading possibilities.

The new Discovery 3 comes with a single 5-door body, three trim levels S, SE and HSE and 3-year warranty with unlimited kilometers. There will be 3 versions with 2.7 turbo engine of 190 hp and two V8 petrol engine 300 hp. The gearbox six-speed sequential automatic is standard on the V8 versions and optional on the TDV6, which assembled in series, a six-speed manual gearbox.
