Saab 9-3 X

The Saab 9-3X is the SUV version of the SportCombi ( "X" is the name given to Saab models with capacities to move beyond the asphalt). Depending on the engine can be equipped with four-wheel traction. Initially available with two engines: a 210 bhp petrol (which may be replenished with gasoline or E85 fuel) and diesel of 180 hp.

The chassis of the Saab 9-3X with the gasoline engine is 35 mm higher for easy driving offroad terrain. In this respect, the Saab 9-3X is specially designed for driving on gravel roads or dirt roads, without compromising the driving experience on asphalt.

Aesthetics SUV
The body features new front and rear bumpers finished in dark gray granules, which also applies to the side skirts and the edges of the wheel arches that serve as protective cover against the gravel and mud (see photo). This treatment is complemented with protective panels with a matte aluminum finish, which take shape curve to the rear door opening, and a form of spoiler lip front bumper. These are conjoined with the decor of brushed aluminum bottom of the doors. The roof rails are standard black color, and as an option you can specify a chrome finish. Two tailpipes are standard rear visible for all versions. Front fog lamps also have a chrome finish.

The alloy wheels are 17-inch multiple radios and are designed for use on any surface, whether land hard, smooth roads with loose gravel or paved correctly.

Inside, the Saab 9-3X incorporates higher quality finish, and adds a dark metallic finish on the door panels, glove box, center console and the gearbox. Their unique sports seats gray cloth inserts incorporated into the black leather upholstery.

Drive Total
The gasoline version dl Saab 9-3X is equipped with four-wheel-drive (commercially known as Saab XWD). It is an active system 'intelligent', that continuously distributes engine torque between front and rear as demande.

The hardware includes an electronic transfer mechanism (called TTD), which varies the power delivery between the axles. A valve raises or lowers the hydraulic pressure on the wet clutch plates in the TTD to progressively engage or disengage rear drive. The degree of 'slip' indicates how much torque is transmitted to the rear wheels. A rear limited slip differential (ELSD) operates under the same principle, dividing power between the axles for the wheel has more grip.

Petrol and Diesel
The Saab 9-3X will be available with two engines (180 hp diesel, petrol and 210). The gasoline engine is sold in two versions: one conventional and one that can feed for bioethanol E85, ie it can run on gasoline, ethanol or a mixture of both fuels. It is mechanically supercharged 2.0-liter has a maximum power of 210 hp and maximum torque of 300 Nm. The version that can use ethanol (commercially called 9-3X Saab BioPower 2.0T XWD) will only be coupled to a 6-speed manual gearbox. For its part, the version "conventional" gasoline with the same engine may be mated to a manual or automatic, both of six relationships.

The diesel version, with dual-motor 1.9 TTiD turbocharger, has an output of 180 hp, maximum torque of 400 Nm and emits less than 145 grams of CO2 per kilometer. Unlike the petrol version of 210 hp, the diesel version is sold only with front-wheel drive. This engine is also available with manual transmission or six-speed automatic.

Unlike the petrol version in the Saab 9-3X 1.9 TTiD the high ground clearance is 5 mm smaller (20 mm).

Greater length in his trunk
The trunk has a volume of 477 liters (with the seats folded capacity may increase to some 1331 liters. For the Sport Hatch, the boot capacity is larger (419 liters and 1273 liters).

The rear seatback is split 60/40 proportions incorporated in a bag for skis and swoops without moving the sidewalk, which is fixed. A swing back in the front passenger seat allows carrying objects up to 2.5 meters in length.

The luggage compartment floor, fully carpeted, with two lights interior lights placed inside the uprights D. It is accessed through a door light that reaches the level of the bumper, and the piers that support it are damped completely hidden inside the roof of the car, so there is nothing to interfere when fully open. A black molded protection, level with the luggage compartment floor, is set not to leave marks or scratches when introducing heavy objects.

Cargo space TwinFloor the 9-3X, also helps to keep luggage safe and orderly manner. The middle section of the floor bends upwards transversely when the handle is actuated, and the front edge fits into two slots.

There is also an outlet of 12 volts in the trunk (for a thermos or a cooler) and separate storage compartments on each side of the floor, one with a strap to hold large bottles.
