Subaru Impreza WRX STI Special Edition

Subaru Impreza WRX STI Special Edition has been developed by STI (Subaru Tecnica International), high-performance subsidiary of Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd.

Exclusive 125 units
Subaru's new model will be marketed next spring in a limited series of only 125 units whose body is painted in the exclusive Aspen White color.

Chassis improved
Based on the Subaru Impreza WRX STI, the suspensions have been modified by replacing the current rear stabilizer bar for a more rigid and one millimeter thicker. Have also been modified front spring, increasing the stiffness of the same on a sixteen percent. The rear dampers have also experienced a tightening of a twenty-nine percent compared to riding the Subaru Impresa WRX STI.

Wheel drive with central differential driver controlled
Subaru Impreza WRX STI Special Edition is equipped with all wheel drive system developed by Symmetrical AWD brand but improved with a more targeted approach to obtaining high performance.

The AWD system works in permanent liaison with the DCCD system, the center differential driver controlled. During normal grip, a planetary center differential transmits 65 percent of torque to the rear axle and the remaining 35 percent to the front axle.

In automatic mode, the system is controlled by an electronic clutch that is able to vary the degree of torque distribution to each of the axes, depending on the conditions of adhesion to keep the vehicle stable and the acceleration is detected in the pedal that controls the driver, deceleration, steering angle and steering force.

When the DCCD system is in Manual mode, the driver can vary the amount of power between both axles, with a maximum allocation, 50/50 in both axes. Increasing the lock factor causes increased traction on the front axle, which allows the driver a wide range of types of management and adaptation to many types of road. This mode is selected by a button on the center console.

Brembo High Performance Brakes
The brake system that mounts the new Subaru Impreza WRX STI Special Edition employs a system developed by Brembo "on purpose" for this model, with ventilated discs on all four wheels. The front axle discs have a diameter of 323 mm and a thickness of 31 millimeters, the rear axle measure 312 millimeters in diameter and thickness is 21 mm.

The front discs calipers have four pistons and two rear discs.

The brake system has been strengthened by a sports version of the ABS antilock braking system and with the addition of distribution EBD brake force, Vehicle Dynamic Control VDC that integrates the functions and stability control traction control and the new Start Assist system that prevents assists the driver in the outstanding starts.

The tires are Dunlop SP600, developed for a more sporty and aggressive shooting compared to a normal and mounted tires, 18 inches in diameter, four-spoke design. The measure of all four are 245/40R18 tires.

The same mechanics of the Subaru Impreza WRX STI
The mechanics of the new Subaru Impreza WRX STI Special Edition remains the same as the model that takes the basis for this version. It maintains the block four-cylinder boxer available with 2.5 liter engine and supercharging with variable geometry turbocharger, developing 305 horsepower of maximum power.

The gearbox is also the same, a six-speed manual transmission.

Optimized to reduce weight equipment
The equipment of the Subaru Impreza WRX STI Special Edition has been optimized with a view to reducing the weight of the whole. Instead of offering the same elements as the Subaru Impreza WRX now rides HID halogen headlights, CD player with four speakers (the other model has a six-CD player and ten speakers) and air conditioning instead of automatic climate control.
