Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid

The Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid will be presented at the Geneva Motor Show in March. Intended primarily and solely for circuit racing, the prototype, will be from 2012 when you can see the next generation of the Porsche 911.

Porsche will offer a hybrid version in the second generation Cayenne SUV and the new Porsche Panamera sedan but with a different propulsion system that mounts this model.

Hybrid Propulsion unpublished
Assuming mechanical and technical Porsche 911 GT3 RSR, Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid gasoline engine mounted on classic boxer provision of four liter engine, which develops a maximum power of 480 horses and mounted on the rear axle Like all Porsche 911.

This hybrid system was carried out by the specialist Williams Hybrid Power, a subsidiary of the Williams F1 team and is closer to the technological concept of system kinetic energy recovery KERS (Kinetic Energy Recovery System).

The propulsion system that mounts the Porsche 911 GT3 R Hybrid is completely different from what is currently mounted in series production models like the new Volkswagen Touareg (you have more information on the mechanics Volkswagen SUV hybrid, here) and whose very hybrid drive will mount on the second generation Porsche Cayenne.

If the rear axle is mounted thermal combustion engine in the front are two small electric motors that are responsible for moving the wheels of this axle (see picture).

But the novelty lies in the complete absence of battery storage of kinetic energy and the replacement of this element by the two electric motors front axle, are responsible for converting the kinetic energy generated under braking and engine braking on electrical current, transmitting energy to a flywheel capable of storing, in a single twist of up to 40,000 rpm, no less than 120 kilowatts of power or, which is the same, 160 horsepower of an engine combustion .

Power Demand
When the driver demands more power, just press a button on the dashboard so that, for just over seven seconds, the 120 additional kilowatts, are placed at your disposal and can a straight face after leaving a curve, maximum power, with a total of 640 horses.

Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet

Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet is a new version that takes the mechanical and technical base of the 911 Turbo Cabriolet, which will be officially introduced at the Geneva Motor Show, next March. This version is also sold with the coupé body.

Porsche AG's specialists offer this version, an even more exclusive than the Porsche 911 Turbo convertible, with a greater driving dynamics and an outstanding level of standard equipment, besides being able to shoot the open sky.

The new Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet is manufactured, like its predecessor, the German factory in Zuffenhausen. Will be available in the German dealers in the brand from next May, priced at 184,546 euros, plus tax.

Higher Power: a new twist to the mechanics
Assuming mechanical engine boxer six-cylinder available in the 911 Turbo Cabrio that, with 3.8 liter engine and a variable geometry turbocharger, is able to yield a maximum power of 500 hp, the Audi engineers have implemented a turbocharger with variable geometry also, extra, so that the power increases in thirty horses, offering a total of 530 horses, with a maximum torque of 700 Newton meters.

With this new twist to the engine, the Porsche 911 Turbo S Convertible accelerates from zero to 100 km / h in just 3.3 seconds (in 10.8 seconds and has reached 200 km / h) and top speed 315 km / h, consuming 11.4 liters every hundred miles, a figure that does not involve either increase or reduction whatsoever with respect to the version that follows, the Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet.

Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet is fitted exclusively with the gearbox and seven-speed dual clutch Porsche PDK Doppelkupplungsgetriebe, transmission is optional on the Porsche 911 Turbo Cabriolet.

Electronically controlled chassis
As usual and in models of Porsche, is equipped with the latest electronic technology to control the behavior of the chassis on the drive, making it safer and more efficient, for maximum enjoyment of the benefits offered by the thrusters.

The new Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet mounted permanent AWD system PTM (Porsche Traction Management) system and the torque vectoring PTV (Posch Torque Vectoring) which optimizes the drive to a higher level. These systems are supplemented by a mechanical differential lock on rear axle.

The brake system features a high-level performance, almost racing to equip carbon-ceramic brakes PCCB (Porsche Ceramic Composite Brakes), thanks to its material, compound, are more resistant to fatigue, stop the car in less time and in reduced stopping distance and help to lighten the weight of all thanks to its extreme lightness.

Supreme luxury facilities
The level of equipment is the new Porsche 911 Turbo S Cabriolet is true luxury, as equipped as standard alloy wheels in RS Spyder locks, cruise control, sport steering wheel three-spoke design with levers of change PDK integrated CD and DVD loader and electrically adjustable sports seats, exclusive leather upholstery dual-tone, black and cream combinations or black and blue titanium.

In addition, we offer the Sport Chrono Package Turbo package, which includes a few buttons and a display function Integrated Launch Control and modes Sport and Sport Plus mode.
